Presidents Letter

November, 2007

Greetings to Summit Village Association Property Owners:

This letter from your newly elected president will replace the fall edition of the “Village Voice”. It will contain all of the same news that would have been published in the Village Voice.

Many new and exciting things are happening at Summit Village, here are a few:

  • Annual Meeting and Dinner Dance.  On September 15th we were pleased to hear a presentation from Mr. Jack Eslick, CEO of Trinidad. LLC .  Jack reported on the 11 million dollar renovation of the Summit Hotel which is well under way.  Phase one being the renovation of guest rooms, lobby restaurant, and bar areas is expected to be completed by the end of this December.  Phase two will be the renovation of the conference center and will be completed in late spring.  The renderings drawings look great.  The SVA Annual Meeting followed.  We received reports from each committee and we re-elected Ed Hagmaier, Jack McKaig and Gordon Pinger to the Board of Directors. Also newly elected to the board is Shari Willerer.  Following the annual meeting the board met and elected Tom Garner, President, Art Lennox, Vice President,   David Roberts, Treasurer and Judy Pinger, Secretary.  Later in the evening we enjoyed a gala dinner and dance.  If you were unable to attend, please join us for the 2008 event.
  • Social Activities.  Many wonderful activities were held over the past summer.  The final social activity of 2007 will be the “Holiday Gathering” on December 18th at LaVigna at Cedar River Village.  A flier is attached with a reservation tear-off.  We hope everyone will attend.
  • Beach Club.  For the 2008 season, we will have a new manager for the beach club.  Your board is constantly developing new policies and procedures to help in assuring that your experiences at the beach club are the finest that we can provide.  There will be more news in the spring as our plans develop.
  • Architectural Committee.  The committee is very active and looks forward to approving all plans for new homes and home improvements.  Applications must be submitted to the committee for all new homes and home improvements before any work commences.
  • Roads and Grounds.  We extend a real big “Thank You” to the committee for the spectacular job they have done in keeping the flower beds and lawns looking beautiful, especially the beach club. Compliments have been received from many guests and homeowners for the well maintained grounds.

As you can see, the board and the various committees have been very busy.  It takes a collective effort on behalf of many property owners to make Shanty Creek, Summit Village the spectacular place that it is.  Many have asked how they can help in the continued redevelopment of the resort.  As Jack Eslick has stated, all property owners can be ambassadors for the resort.  The resort needs and wants your assistance in generating new business, especially, group sales.  That is what the resort needs most to be successful.  All of us can help. We all know of various groups, professional associations, religious groups, civic and fraternal groups that would love to have their meetings at this beautiful resort.  Please call the marketing department with any leads you may have.  Together, this effort can be our contribution to the continued success of Shanty Creek Resort and Club.

It is appropriate to express our gratitude to Ed Hagmaier who has been our President and board member for six years.  While Ed has stepped down from being President, he has accepted re-election as a board member.  Thank you, Ed.

I am delighted to be your new president, and I commit to all property owners my best efforts in advancing Summit Village at Shanty Creek. Attached are the annual financial statement and a list of the 2007-2008 board members.

Sincerely,

Thomas C. Garner
President
